Here are the Gypsies raid policies and guidelines (subject to change as they evolve). Note that while we don't enforce strict rules about raiding, these policies and guidelines will help the raid go smoother, and help everyone have a good time.

Pre-raid preparation:

  • Come fully repaired.
  • Bring plenty of (buffing) food and water, as well as health and mana potions.
  • Bring plenty of other relevant supplies like poisons, reagents, ankhs, seeds, soul shards, and bandages.
  • Bring a supply of flasks, elixirs, and/or oils to help buff yourself.
  • Installing a threat meter (like Omen) is strongly suggested.
  • It is also mandatory to use the Mumble chat client. Mumble is much clearer than in-game chat or Ventrilo. It not only saves a lot of typing, it will also help the raid go at a faster pace and make the whole experience more fun. Also, you don't need to have a microphone to participate, just being able to hear the raid leader will do.
  • Know your class mechanics. You'll do more damage/healing/crowd control, and you'll die less. We don't enforce particular class builds, because we figure you already know where to spend your talent points to best fit your playing style and get the most out of your build.
  • A prepared raider will use an average of 300g of supplies for an evening's run, so you must prepare for the next raid by:
    • Farming the materials yourself and having friends / guild mates / alts on hand to make your consumables for you (cheaper, takes more time), or
    • Farming daily quests to raise the gold to buy the supplies instead (more expensive, takes less time).

During the Raid:

  • Show up on time.
  • Out of respect for the other players, please keep profanity to a minimum.
  • Please leave any personal grudges and drama at home.
  • Follow the raid leader.
  • The main tank should be in front of everyone else, and the main tank should be the one pulling (unless the situation calls for a Hunter's Misdirect or something else).
  • If you're having a problem with pulling aggro off of the tank, then let the tank build up threat before entering combat. Watching for two sunders or counting to five are two good strategies.
  • If you've got a question, ask it.
  • Most importantly, have fun! Bigger raids are exciting, enjoy them!

Voice Chat during Raids:

  • Idle chatter during slow periods and breaks are encouraged, but please free the channels during combat planning, instructions, and execution.
  • We don't need to hear "I'm down" when you're killed. We may not know who "I" is by voice, and the raid leader can already see at a glance who's dead. The raid leader will instruct players who can resurrect people during battle, depending on what's needed for the fight (most of the time, we need our healers back first, but sometimes it could be high-end DPS or even a tank).
    • Healers who get killed may announce that their target needs a new healer.
  • You can, however, ask for an innervate if you need one, referring to your character's name directly. Healers get priority on mana regen buffs, though.
  • Multiple people talking at once can and will cause feedback, which isn't good for people's ears.
  • Get and use a headset with a microphone if possible. It will make you easier to understand, and will cut down the above-mentioned feedback.
  • Set your chat to "Push-to-Talk" and assign a convenient button to press when talking. We don't want to hear your random breathing and/or background noise, particularily when it's someone else talking in voice chat over your speakers.
  • Stay focused on the task at hand. The raid leader may be patient enough to wait on giving raid instructions until you're finished talking about your cat, but you're really holding the rest of us up, and we'd really like to get that boss down.
  • Do not counter with instructions or ideas of your own. The raid leader is very open to suggestions for tactics, but please /whisper them to the leader, who will then decide whether or not to use the idea. Keep in mind that there are often multiple strategies to successfully take a boss down. However, confusing the other players with too many details can make the fight not go well.

Loot Policies:

  • We will not be using a DKP system for keeping track of epic loot. Instead, we'll use good ol' pencil and paper and common sense.
  • For Heroics, the looting is set to Group Loot.
    • Uncommon (green) loot is to be Greeded by everyone. (I don't think there will be anything that anyone Needs at this stage.)
    • BoE Rare (blue) loot is also to be Greeded unless someone Needs the item.
    • BoP Rare (blue) loot will be Greeded by the raid Disenchanter and passed by everyone else, unless someone Needs the item.
    • BoP Epic (purple) drops from trash mobs will be Greeded by the raid Disenchanter and passed by everyone else, unless someone Needs the item.
    • BoE Patterns and Recipies should be Greeded by everyone, unless a Crafter who doesn't have it Needs it.
    • BoP Patterns and Recipies should only show up to those who can use them, so Need it if you don't have it and can use it.
    • If you're unsure about whether you should Greed or Need an item, pause for discussion before making a choice.
    • Note that in patch 3.3, the Dungeon Finder system defaults to Need Before Greed, and allows players to also roll to Disenchant an item and receive the mats if there's an enchanter in the group. So, Need if the item is an upgrade, and roll Greed or Disenchant otherwise.
  • For raids, looting will be set to Master Loot, and a master looter will be appointed, and the loot threshold will be set to Rare or higher.
    • If the looting rules are still set to Group Loot, do not roll until the loot distribution is discussed, unless you know you want to Pass on the item. We will typically ask everyone to pass on the loot, and then do our rolls (explained below) to distribute the loot. If you win a roll, then you will be asked to pick up only that item from the boss. Alternately, the Loot Master may Need all items, and then hand them out after rolls.
    • The Loot Master will go through the item list and do up to three roll calls for each item.
      • The first roll is for Raid Rank 1 players who need the item as a mainspec upgrade, and have not yet received an item that run (RaidID).
      • If nobody rolls, then the loot master will open the rolls to Raid Rank 2 players who have yet to receive a mainspec upgrade, or Raid Rank 1 players who have already received one mainspec upgrade.
      • If nobody rolls again, then the loot master opens the rolls to all players who wish to roll on the item as a mainspec upgrade, regardless of whether they've received loot that run.
      • If nobody rolls once more, then the item is opened to offspec rolls if it's BoP, or the loot master will sell the item for Guild Bank funds if it's BoE (Guild members can buy it for half price before it hits the Auction House).
      • If the item is BoP and nobody wants it for offspec, then it will be given to a designated enchanter to be disenchanted.
    • Once you have received an Epic item, you will no longer be eligible to roll against other players for more Epics that run on the first roll. You can still roll for upgrades if they pass to the second roll, which often happens.
    • Tier tokens are on the same loot roll table as other upgrades.
  • At the end of the raid, the raid Disenchanter will deposit shards in the guild bank.
  • While loot is open for rolls, please keep voice and raid chat clear, so that the loot master can properly distribute the loot without mistakes.
  • Please do not post joke rolls, as this only confuses the poor loot master, and has lead to loot distribution mistakes in the past.
  • Please do not loot the body yourself until:
    • Everyone has been resurrected.
    • All the epic loot has been handed out.
      • The loot master will let you know when everyone can loot.
  • For dropped items that everyone can use in a 25-player raid, the loot master will do a raid roll to hand it out.
    • These items include things like epic gems and rare crafting components.
    • Nobody rolls.
    • The loot master will /roll 25, which generates a random number between 1 and 25.
    • The player who corresponds to that number on the loot master's raid list will get the item, unless they pass when they're announced as the winner.
      • For example, they've already received Magtheridon's Head in a previous raid, so they don't need it again.
  • If you didn't get what you wanted, remember it'll always drop again.

Updated to add a section on Voice Chat etiquette, and a couple guidelines for looting that helps get the loot distributed faster in 25-player situations.

UPDATED LOOT INFORMATION:

As part of becoming a more structured guild and making raid ranks a meaningful part of guild life we are adding benefits to the loot rolls for ranked players. Ranked players get these benefits because we are holding you to a higher standard and expect you to consistantly deliver a positive contribution to every raid experience you attend. Here is the outline. The rolls are still a /roll system and random chance is involved. Currently we are doing 1st roll: main spec did not, 2nd roll: main spec did, 3rd roll off spec, the close to DE.

Here are the changes:
1st roll: Raid rank 1 players did not get an item.
2nd roll: Raid rank 2 players who haven't got an item and raid rank 1 players who did get an item.
3rd roll: Non raid ranked players main spec who did not get an item. ( members and below)
4th roll : off spec
Finally closed to DE
