Rather than completely write our own code of conduct, I'm gonna steal the one that Imperium uses (with minor modifications), because I rather like it.
Code of Conduct: The Six Demandments
The following was written by a law student (Malice) and edited by a guy with a philosophy degree (Prodigal). It is flawless. In the event that it is not flawless, it is flawless.
- Gypsies’ reputation is important; help garner respect by treating other players, whether fellow guildmates or not, with courtesy. Remember that your conduct reflects on the rest of your guild as well. For instance, as tempting as it is to teabag and emote spam someone you beat in PvP, actually doing so (and bragging about it in-game or on public forums) makes you and your guild look the opposite of classy.
- Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to, harassment of other players, ninja looting, using hacks, cheats, bug exploits, or anything that would violate Blizzard's Terms of Service.
- If you have a disagreement with a fellow player, keep it out of guild chat. Try to resolve it privately with the other party, and, if all reason and rational discussion fails, resort to speaking with an officer. The same goes with public forums. Don't be a drama-queen.
- Don't stir up dissent; however, if you have an issue, don't let it fester and build resentment. Instead, take it to an officer you trust, and see if some resolution can be reached. Gypsies should be a guild that you're happy to call home. You're certainly not expected to like everyone unconditionally, but tolerance for your least-favorite members is a reasonable goal.
- While you should feel completely at home in voice and guild chat, some topics are better left alone. No matter how strongly you feel about your position, there is more than likely someone else who feels just as strongly about their opposing one. Healthy discussion is encouraged, but topics such as politics, religion, and whether Han or Greedo shot first often lead to flared tempers.
- Waffles. 'nuff said.
Additionally, the following actions will not earn you brownie points with management or other guild members:
- Abusive chat and forum language. This includes guild chat / #general / #trade spamming and trolling. We wish to be known as a civilized guild with minimal drama.
- Whining, crying, and bitching. You don't want to hear about it from us, and we don't want to hear about it from you. Things that are actually worth crying or bitching about are exempt from this. We are your friends, after all. Otherwise, remember that if you didn't win a roll on something that dropped, it will always drop again.
- Expecting gold or free stuff. We worked for our gold, there's no reason you can't work for yours. Now don't get us wrong, improving yourself means improving the guild, but not at another guild member's expense. We will craft and enchant anything for you for free, so long as you provide the raw materials. You are also welcome to anything you can use (not sell) from the guild bank.
- Constantly asking for help. Solo quests are called that for a reason. We will lend a hand when we're available, but we won't play your game for you. As for group quests, please make the attempt to find others in the area who are on the same quest. It's a great way to make new friends.
- Asking for low level dungeon walkthroughs. If you've done your homework on the dungeon and have gathered all available quests for it, then we may be persuaded to walk you through the dungeon. Keep in mind that the higher level players aren't getting anything out of it except perhaps the happy feeling of helping someone (and, depending on how you ask, we may not even have that). We also suggest you look for players at your own level who also need to do that dungeon, as both you and they will get more out of it. Also, it's good to have non-Guild friends that are around your level on your friends list to quest with. (Who knows, they may be persuaded to join us if they start looking for a new guild.)
Please note that Gypsies officers, while loveable sorts, wield supreme executive power. Most guild matters are open to discussion. The ones that aren’t, really aren’t. Guild sanctions up to and including /gkick are at the sole discretion of the officers.
